Hello Yogis!

My name’s Aly and I’m so delighted that you found my page for the

200 hr online yoga teacher training.

I certify yoga practitioners to be leaders in the evolving world that we live in. Providing all the tools to teach yoga, finding their teaching voice and build confidence to share the teachings while deepening their own practice.

IMG_7511.jpg

Teaching yoga, meditation and training students to become teachers is my life’s purpose and true calling. If it wasn’t for you wanting to share your gift of brilliance with the world then I wouldn’t be here so thank you for listening to that inner voice.

Now we have the opportunity to reach people globally due to the expansion of technology. It can be used as a positive tool for growth or be abused. I am choosing to reach as many people as I can to spread the positive message. Letting them in on the gems of this ancient lineage because it shouldn’t be a secret on how to live in harmony instead of suffering.

You have come to the right place to learn how to share this knowledge to friends, family and clients on a global scale. This is also a great opportunity to work on YOU and develop a healthy consistent practice at home.

The Yoga Home is not your typical online yoga teacher training. It is an extremely interactive opportunity in which you will have ongoing support throughout the whole program and beyond. With group zoom calls, one on one coaching, private community fb group and fb live practices.

The Yoga Home is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga school. Once certified you may get insured to teach world wide.

Are you wanting to experience a life changing transformation where you can share your gifts with others and create change in the world?

How important is it to you to feel alive and vibrant because you are answering your life’s purpose and following your dreams?

Well, I have designed a course for you that will answer your hearts calling. If you want to teach yoga, this is your time, this is your calling.

This is an exciting opportunity to explore your practice and take it to the next level.

Perhaps you have more time at home due to the outbreak of covid19 and you want to take this opportunity to learn these valuable teachings to help support your community, friends and family.

Do you want to create your own schedule and live life on your own terms?

Then this is the perfect offering for you!

We will be working closely together along this journey as you learn the ins and outs of the yoga industry gaining incredible tools to help you advance as a practitioner and a teacher.

Curriculum

Techniques & Practice

Explore a vast array of asana styles and theoretical elements using Hatha as the foundation. Morning practice is an intensive two hour Vinyasa flow. While the afternoon is a gentle two hour Hatha with deep focus on alignment, pranayama and meditation. Remaining time will be spent on lectures covering topics of the day.

100 hrs total.

Teaching Methodology

Learn all aspects of teaching including: how to plan classes, choreograph sequences, demonstrate postures, execute physical adjustments, use voice and verbal cues (English and Sanskrit). Practice and learn how to hold space for a variety of different emotions, physical injuries and limitations. Using props and modifying postures is also extensively covered. The importance of observation is emphasized and the foundation of excellent teaching.

25 hrs total.

Anatomy and Physiology

Dive deep into the physical (muscles, bones, fascia etc.) and energetic (chakras, nadis etc.) anatomy of the human form. You will be taught all body systems (eg. nervous system, muscular system, endocrine, etc.), human kinetics and how all of these relate to yoga practice. Anatomy provides a comprehensive blueprint for all postures while clarifying the effects of pranayama and meditation within the body.

20 hrs total.

Philosophy and Ethics

Review topics within Hindu mythology and the traditional teachings from the ancient scriptures of The Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika and The Bhagavad Gita. Looking into these Vedic scriptures gives you insight into how much more there is to your yoga practice than the physical body. By learning the 8 limb path and applying it throughout your life you will be more confident incorporating it into your classes without overwhelming your students. Two hours are spent on the ethics of the teacher-student relationship and how important this is when giving physical adjustments.

30 hrs total.

Practicum

Practice teaching to the group. Develop your voice and style. Sometimes the scariest part of being a new teacher is getting up in front of people. The more you practice within a supportive group the more your confidence grows. This is a chance to receive and give feedback as well as observe others teach. Electives are interspersed throughout the month and include kids, Ashtanga and pre-natal yoga practices. Basic Ayurvedic principles and variations for advanced postures are also covered.

FAQ

Who is this program for?

This is for anyone who has the desire to teach yoga to friends, family or clients in a group setting or private one on one. Also for those that are wanting to deepen their personal home practice.

What will we learn in the course?

The course curriculum is on this page if you want to scroll up for more detail. There will be a mix of anatomy, philosophy, asana posture breakdown, meditation, pranayama, introduction to business and marketing skills, how to run a retreat 101, pre natal, foam rolling and myofascial release, vision makers, mind set, sequence design, Sanskrit peeps 101, voice and language, demonstrations, hands on adjustments, how to prep for a class, Learn to pronounce the Sanskrit posture names.

What are the requirements?

The 200 hr is a very foundational program. It’s not necessary to have 3-10 years of practice. It is nice to have been practicing for at least a year but it all depends on the person and how active they have been. The important thing is that you are devoted and passionate about yoga and you aren’t coming into it with a lot of injuries. That being said if you are experiencing something physical we learn a lot about modifications so if you are able to do some of the postures to demonstrate and take photos of them you should be fine to come into the program.

Can I take this while I’m pregnant?

Yes! Absolutely, I had a student that was pregnant through the whole course. We will also cover an intro pre-natal workshop as one of the electives.

What if I’m not available for the group zoom lectures?

If you have to work and it doesn’t match the time for the calls, no problem! I will be recording all the calls on zoom and posting them in the private group fb page. I really recommend that you do show up for most of the calls because it is so beneficial to have the group energy as well as my one on one feedback to your postures, alignment and any questions that you may have.

What is the duration of the program?

It’s 4 months as a group. If you decide to work at your own pace you have up until a year to finish it. However, it is so much more beneficial to move at the pace of the group for the accountability purposes and to get the support as everyone is on the same page.

What is the schedule like?

Tue. 10-11a.m. mst - Group zoom call – Lecture/theory

Wed. 5:30-6:30 p.m. mst  Group lecture- Q and A and posture analysis

Sat.  9-11 a.m.mst – Fb live yoga asana practice with discourse after

How many hours are required per week to make up the 200 hrs?

If you choose to finish the course in 4 months then you are required to do approx. 10 hours a week, of course it will be more if you have more time and less if you don’t and then make it up when you do. These hours will consist of your documented daily yoga practice on your mat, reading or watching videos either from my lectures or other yoga related content, assignments, quizzes, and practice teaching friends or family or filming yourself, as well as the zoom calls and lectures with me.

Is this course designed for someone that is working full time?

Yes, it depends on your hours as long as you are able to show up and do the work, then it can be very flexible with balancing work, family and studying. I have had a lot of moms in the program with their kids running around and that is why I designed this online option so that people could work it in with their busy lives.

I would suggest though that if you are planning on taking another course with this one that you wait and just commit fully for the 4 months because there is a lot of assignments that take your time and attention.

What payment options are available?

You can e-transfer if you are a Canadian. All prices are CAD. You may also pay through PayPal to theyogahome@live.ca

Are there refunds?

Your tuition payment is refundable up to 1 month before the start date.

We don’t give refunds after the start date however depending on the situation whether it is a death in the family and/or you get injured you will get full credit (minus the administration fee $150) to put towards the next training.

Is the deposit part of the tuition?

Yes, when you put down your $300 deposit you will then take that off of what you owe for the tuition amount.

Do you have payment plans?

Yes, it’s a monthly plan broken down in 3 months. The last payment will have to be paid before you receive your certificate.

Can I get a receipt for tax purposes?

Yes, absolutely!

Can we register with Yoga Alliance after this program?

The deadline is Dec. 31 2020 to register with Yoga Alliance. This has been extended due to Covid but will change in 2021.

Yoga Alliance is not a governing body it is only a place to register. It does not mean you can’t get insured to teach still. I love how Brett Larkin explains it:

“Yoga Alliance is a private, nonprofit entity that is optional for teachers to pay to join. Yoga Alliance is not sanctioned by any local, state, or federal government. Paying Yoga Alliance to be listed in their directory is not a requirement to get insurance or be legally protected while teaching yoga.” -Brett Larkin

Why train online?

Training yoga online has never been easier with the various technological advances. We have access to software programs that allow us to connect in group calls and the ability to document your practice.

  • Currently it is effective and the only option during this lockdown of social distancing and all the yoga studios closing

  • It’s flexible with work and family life

  • The study schedule is on your own time

  • The zoom group call times are accessible for different work schedules

  • You have a lifetime access to the modules and information

  • You save time and money from driving long distances and being in traffic

  • You can raise your babies while practicing at home (no child care needed)

  • It’s more affordable than the in-person trainings (at least $1000 difference)

  • You have one on one support from the instructor (we only take small groups)

  • You can drink coffee in your pajamas while listening to the course modules (haha just sayin)

TESTIMONIALS

Chillia Zoll

One of our wonderful graduates from the 200 hr online ytt program in 2019. This is the 3 day intensive option to receive hands on adjustments, in-person lectures and an opportunity to teach a full 1 hour class to your classmates with feedback from the instructor.

Testimonial from 200 hr online YTT

In the summer of 2019 I made the commitment to go through a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Aly Paws (The Yoga Home). Initially I was just looking forward to creating a more consistent practice, and expanding my current knowledge of the Asanas, with the intent that I would then be able to offer individualized Yoga practice templates for my 1:1 Health Coaching Clients. With twenty years of personal practice, I thought simply, that it would be nice to find a little more focus and practical experience. I swiftly came to realize how much deeper I could go, with Aly’s dedication to understanding and interpreting the theory of Yoga, to the actual practice in all it’s many variations, and their effects upon the individual. Her background in both physical and energetic healing modalities, and her history of physical expression through dance and skate culture created such a dynamic learning platform, that really immersed us in a very unique and inspiring perspective. Along with her dedication to seeing her students succeed with true understanding, with the confidence of our own vision, she kept us on track and enthusiastic. And she kept us laughing, with all the seriousness needed to maintain focus on the course curriculum at the same time.  I couldn’t recommend this course with Aly more highly. I have come away for the course feeling far more confident in what I can offer my clients in the future, and excited to see how much deeper I can take my own practice. Thank you, Aly!

-Chillia Zoll (Graduating class of September 2019 - 200 hr YTT online program)

“Cuando el estudiante estuvo listo Aly apareció con su pasión, energía y sabiduría y nos guió a través de un recorrido mágico de transformación.

When the student was ready Aly appeared  full of passion, energy, and wisdom; she guided us through a magical transformative journey.”

-Gabriela Herrero (Graduated from TYH online 200 hr YTT from March-June 2020)

“Aly Paws has created a comprehensive and professionally delivered teacher training program. Aly’s ability to connect with each of her students, and to create a community of support and accountability is bar none. She is committed to seeing all of her students reach their goals and confidently imparts her wisdom and knowledge to guide and encourage them along the way. Aly’s art is to inspire others and her craft is her love of teaching. I can honestly say that learning with Aly was life changing. I can’t thank her enough for all she shared with our group during the training.”

-Stacey Bucca (Graduated from TYH 200 hr YTT online from March-June 2020)

Testimonials from in person 200 hr YTT in Costa Rica

“I was so impressed with Aly’s deep knowledge of the body, yoga as a science and a philosophy. These concepts flow through her classes, and are passed on to her students on both an individual level and class level. Aly teaches from a place of acceptance and understanding. She is extremely receptive to her student’s feelings and goals. She attends to individual needs & circumstances without compromising high standards of practice & discipline. Aly has instilled the confidence in me teaching alignment principles, anatomy, cueing, and how to assess a student or an entire class to form a sequence to suit their needs. I was always encouraged by her playful assurance & found her teaching methods very nourishing and motivating. She truly put the joy back into the practice and created a space of lightness and fun with afternoon dance parties, savasana cuddle puddles and massage trains. Her guidance as taught me to keep seeking, to keep trying, to be super open and receptive to everything I feel for it is in the sweet caressing of the dark and difficult moments that space opens for greater expansion. I am finally ready to spread my light to the world and live my purpose. Thank you for the most sweaty high viben’ informative experience of my life. I am grateful beyond words for you, Aly Paws.”

- Teal Michelle Blake (Graduating class of the Jan. 2016- In person 200 hr YTT)

“I couldn’t have had a better teacher than Aly. She is such a beautiful and present person that really cares about everyone around her. We were a great group, all on different levels and Aly gave all of us a big piece of her heart and a lot of understanding. The passion she has for yoga really shines through in everything she does. The playfulness and lightness she brings to her teaching is something i really appreciated. I laughed every day in my teacher training and it made me realise that my practise doesn’t need to be so serious. That life itself can be much more about light and fun.
Aly really made me grow, both in my practise and as a person. She gave me all the skills and confidence I need to start teaching. I am so happy for everything i got out of the training. It’s really been life changing. I love Aly forever and would recommend her teacher training to anyone.”
